The response to the serious pollution incident at Orica Australia in August 2011

About the Review

The final report of the Review relied on information provided by Orica Australia Pty Ltd, a number of government agencies and their respective Ministers, as well as comments made by residents of Stockton.

It provided 9 recommendations, this included:

• WorkCover review its notification system and associated protocols
• a precinct plan be developed for Kooragang Island and appropriate surrounding areas
• emergency response exercises be developed and implemented to incorporate both the media and public
• a review take place of the processes and time frame for the submission of information which falls under the 'Early Alert' procedure.
